มืดสู่สว่าง

Abstract

ข้าพเจ้าได้เข้าไปสัมผัสบรรยากาศในการทำบุญตามพุทธศาสนสถานต่างๆ และได้ตระหนักถึงปรัชญาคำสอนในพระพุทธศาสนา ในเรื่องความไม่รู้เท่าทันธรรมดาของโลก อันเกิดแต่อวิชชา หรือความมืดบอด ซึ่งจะแก้ไขได้โดยการเริ่มปฏิบัติตนตามแนวทางของพระพุทธศาสนาเพื่อบรรลุถึงความสว่างทางปัญญา ข้าพเจ้าต้องการสร้างสรรค์งานภาพพิมพ์เทคนิค (Mezzotint) เพื่อสื่อถึงแนวทางแห่งการหลุดพ้นตามคำสอนของพระพุทธศาสนา กล่าวคือ ละบาป บำเพ็ญบุญ ทำจิตใจให้บริสุทธิ์ ซึ่งอาจเทียบเคียงได้กับกระบวนการของ (Mezzotint) ที่เริ่มจากความดำมืดของเพลทค่อยๆ สว่างขึ้นจนเห็นรูปทรงที่สมบูรณ์ และสลายรูปทรงไปสู่ความขาวสะอาดในที่สุด

Having experienced the atmosphere of various merit making ceremonies in Buddhist monasteries, I become conscious of the noble truth of the teachings of Buddha which points to our lack of insight into the way of worldliness due to our dullness or blindness, which, however, can be resolved through the continual training of the mind in the paths of Buddha to achieve enlightenment. My aim is to create prints using the method of mezzotint in order to convey the noble Buddhist approaches to freeing the mind, that are abstaining from evil, making merit and purifying the mind which are analogous to the mezzotint procedure of printmaking which starts with a totally dark plate, then develops into light and subtle gradations until it reveals it perfect complete from before softening into pure whiteness in the end.
