สถานีรถไฟบนเส้นทางรถไฟสายเหนือ

Abstract

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาข้อมูลและรวบรวมรูปแบบทางสถาปัตยกรรมของอาคารสถานีรถไฟสายเหนือ รวมทั้งศึกษาและวิเคราะห์ถึงปัจจัยต่างๆ ที่ส่งผลต่อรูปแบบทางสถาปัตยกรรมและการก่อสร้างสถานีรถไฟสายเหนือโดยทำการศึกษาสถานีรถไฟบนเส้นทางรถไฟสายเหนือที่สร้างในสมัยรัชกาลที่ 5 ถึงรัชกาลที่ 8 (พ. ศ. 2453-2489) และเป็นสถานีที่มีรูปแบบและลักษณะทางสถาปัตยกรรมโดดเด่นมีเอกลักษณ์และยังคงมีสภาพสมบรูณ์จำนวน 14 สถานี ผลจากการศึกษาสถานีรถไฟบนเส้นทางรถไฟสายเหนือพบว่ารูปแบบทางสถาปัตยกรรมของสถานีรถไฟที่ทำการศึกษาทั้งหมดมีรูปแบบอิทธิพลของสถาปัตยกรรมตะวันตก โดยสามารถแบ่งแยกตามลักษณะเด่นของสถาปัตยกรรมตะวันตกที่ปรากฏได้ 4 รูปแบบคือ 1). อิทธิพลของสถาปัตยกรรมแบบนีโอคลาสสิค (neoclassicism) 2). อิทธิพลของสถาปัตยกรรมแบบจุงเก้นสติล (jungensill) ซึ่งทั้งสองรูปแบบปรากฏในสถานีรถไฟขนาดใหญ่หรือสถานีประจำจังหวัดที่มีสถาปนิกชาวตะวันตกเป็นผู้ออกแบบ 3). อิทธิพลสถาปัตยกรรมแบบเรือนขนมปังขิง (ginger bread style) ปรากฏในอาคารสถานีรถไฟขนาดเล็กในเขตภาคเหนือตอนบนที่มีการใช้ไม้ฉลุประดับตกแต่งอาคารแบบเรือนขนมปังขิงแต่ผสมผสานลวดลายท้องถิ่น 4). อิทธิพลรูปแบบสถาปัตยกรรมเลียนแบบฮาฟทิมเบอร์ (half timber) โดยเป็นการเลียนแบบเฉพาะรูปแบบเท่านั้นโดยปรับเปลี่ยนวัสดุให้เข้ากับท้องถิ่น พบในอาคารสถานีรถไฟขนาดเล็กและขนาดใหญ่ในเขตภาคเหนือตอนบน ซึ่งสถานีรถไฟบนเส้นทางรถไฟสายเหนือโดยส่วนมากมีการดัดแปลงรูปแบบทางสถาปัตยกรรมตะวันตกให้ผสมผสานเข้ากับลักษณะภูมิประเทศ และสถาปัตยกรรมท้องถิ่นได้เป็นอย่างดี โดยปัจจัยที่มีผลต่อรูปแบบสถาปัตยกรรมคือการปรับปรุงปฏิรูปประเทศให้มีความเจริญก้าวหน้ามีพัฒนาการทัดเทียมประเทศในตะวันตก สถานีรถไฟบนเส้นทางรถไฟสายเหนือจึงเป็นสถาปัตยกรรมตัวแทนที่แสดงความศิวิไลซ์และยังสะท้อนให้เห็นถึงการประยุกต์และปรับตัวด้วยการแสดงอัตลักษณ์โดยการผสมผสานศิลปกรรมท้องถิ่นเอาไว้ด้วย

This research aims to identify and capture architectural style of the railway stations on the Northern Route of Siam. The study involves analyses of factors that affect the architectural styles and constructions of the railway stations. The research focused on stations on the Northerm Railway Route, built in the reign of King Rama V to VIII (1910-1946) and with distinctive architectural styles and are still in good conditions, The study of the railway stations on the Northem Railway Route, show that the architectural styles were the influenced by Western architecture. They can be distinguished by the characteristics of Western architectural has 4 types. 1). The influence of neoclassicism 2). the architecture of the Jungenstill, both of which are the main station or stations in the provinces where the architects are westerners. 3). The architecture of the ginger bread style founded in the station building of the upper northern part where the wood, carving decorative (gingerbread) mix with local style 4). The Half timber style imitation which use local materials. These western style Railway Slations on the northern part were mostly adapted to blend in with local locations and local architecture as well. Factors that affected the architectural style were the intention to reform and improve Siam 's image among western rival countries. The railway stations there for represent the country' s civilization and also reflect the application and adaptation of the local art and crafts in order to retain their identity.
