การศึกษาสถาปัตยกรรมวัดไชยวัฒนาราม จังหวัดพระนครศรีอยุธยา

Abstract

การศึกษาเรื่องสถาปัตยกรรมวัดไชยวัฒนาราม จังหวัดพระนครศรีอยุธยา มีความมุ่งหมายให้เห็นถึงแนวความคิดในการออกแบบงานสถาปัตยกรรมเนื่องในพุทธศาสนาที่สำคัญที่สุดแห่งหนึ่งในบรรดาสถาปัตยกรรมสมัยกรุงศรีอยุธยา นอกเหนือไปจากรูปแบบสถาปัตยกรรมที่มีลักษณะพิเศษแล้ว วัดไชยวัฒนารามก็ยังมีเนื้อหาที่สาคัญ โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในเรื่องแนวความคิดในการออกแบบวัดให้ปรากฏเป็นความหมายและคุณค่าในเชิงคติสัญลักษณ์ ซึ่งเน้นในเรื่องของคติจักรวาลเป็นสำคัญ รวมทั้งแนวความคิดและคติต่างๆ ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับพระเจ้าปราสาททององค์ผู้สร้าง และสิ่งเหล่านี้เองที่จะนำไปสู่รูปแบบของวัดไชยวัฒนารามในที่สุด ในด้านพระราชประวัติตลอดจนพระราชกรณียกิจของพระเจ้าปราสาททองทั้งในด้านการเมือง การปกครอง เศรษฐกิจ สังคม การศาสนา และศิลปกรรม เป็นส่วนสำคัญที่จะสามารถสันนิษฐานถึงสถานภาพของพระเจ้าปราสาททองได้ อาทิ การยกพระองค์ขึ้นเทียบเท่าพระจักรพรรดิราช พระอมรินทราธิราช พุทธราชา ธรรมราชา และปรารถนาจะบรรลุพระโพธิญาณกลายเป็นพระโพธิสัตว์ในภพภูมิที่สูงขึ้นภายหลังการสวรรคต เพื่อรอจุติมาเป็นพระอนาคตพุทธเจ้าในกาลต่อ ๆ ไป และเพื่อที่จะสนับสนุนความปรารถนาดังกล่าวของพระเจ้าปราสาททองให้สมบูรณ์ที่สุด พระองค์จำเป็นต้องสร้างสิ่งที่เป็นรูปธรรมให้ปรากฏแก่สายตาประชาชนอย่างเด่นชัด อันได้แก่ การฟื้นฟูพระราชพิธีที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการเป็นพระจักรพรรดิราช คือ พระราชพิธีปราบดาภิเษก พระราชพิธีลบศักราช และพระราชพิธีอินทราภิเษก, การสร้างและปฏิสังขรณ์วัดวาอารามต่างๆ, การสร้างพระมหาปราสาทราชวัง, การสร้างพระพุทธรูปทรงเครื่อง และการสร้างสิ่ง สาธารณูปโภคต่างๆ จากข้อมูลทั้งหมดสามารถนำมาวิเคราะห์ถึงวัตถุประสงค์ในการสร้าง, บทบาทและหน้าที่ของไชยวัฒนารามในรัชสมัยพระเจ้าปราสาททอง ตลอดจนการออกแบบวัดให้ปรากฏในเชิงคติสัญลักษณ์ที่สัมพันธ์กับแนวความคิดและสถานภาพของพระเจ้าปราสาททอง การออกแบบสร้างวัดไชยวัฒนารามนั้นจะเน้นที่กลุ่มอาคารที่อยู่ภายในและบนพระระเบียงเป็นสำคัญ ซึ่งเป็นสัญลักษณ์ของรูปจำลองภูมิจักรวาลที่มีกล่าวไว้ในไตรภูมิ โดยมีปรางค์ประธานเป็นส่วนสำคัญที่สุดของผังและเป็นสัญลักษณ์แทนเขาพระสุเมรุอันเป็นแกนกลางของจักรวาลที่สถิตย์ของพระอินทร์ ดังนั้นบทบาทและหน้าที่ของวัดไชยวัฒนารามในรัชสมัยพระเจ้าปราสาททองในเชิงคติสัญลักษณ์จึงต้องเกี่ยวข้องกับเขาพระสุเมรุอยู่เสมอ ทั้งยังมีความหมายสัมพันธ์กับองค์ประกอบที่สำคัญๆ คือ ภาพปูนปั้นพุทธประวัติ พระพุทธรูปทรงเครื่อง และพระพุทธรูปรายด้วยเช่นกัน บทบาทและหน้าที่ของวัดไชยวัฒนารามที่สัมพันธ์กับแนวความคิดของพระเจ้าปราสาททองปรากฏเป็นเชิงคติสัญลักษณ์ทั้งในบทบาทและหน้าที่ที่เป็นปราสาทบรรพบุรุษ, บทบาทและหน้าที่เพื่อเปลี่ยนสถานภาพไปเป็นพระอินทร์, บทบาทและหน้าที่ที่เป็นปราสาทคีรี ซึ่งสอดคล้องกับความปรารถนาของพระเจ้าปราสาททองในขณะยังดำรงพระชนม์ชีพ และยังมีบทบาทและหน้าที่เพื่อเปลี่ยนสถานภาพของพระองค์เป็นพระอนาคตพุทธเจ้าในพระชาติต่อๆ ไป

The purpose of this research was to analyse the design concept of one of the most important Buddhist architecture in Ayutthaya period. Except the characteristics of architectural style, Wat Chaiwattanaram also has the great subject matters especially the design concept which is shown on the meaning and worthiness in the way of symbolism which is emphasized on the concept of cosmology included the concept relating to King Prasatthong who established Wat Chaiwattanaram. All are finally introduced to the architectural style of this temple. The life of King Prasatthong throughout his multifarious duties such as; the politic, administration, economic, religious and arts are important which let us presume about the status of King Prasatthong who wanted to proclaim his great power in the images of superhuman to be shown all over the kingdom included outside kingdom; as Cakravartin, Indra, King-Buddha, Dharma Raja and he didn’t want the extinction after his death, but he wanted to translate upwards to a higher plane of existence and transform to be Bodhisattava and then would be invited to descend to the earth again for enlightenment to be the future-Buddha. And for completely supporting his wishes, King Prasatthong had to creat the tangibles to be manifestly namely: 1. Using the old technique of the earlier kings in researching the past for innovative works of current construction. He also revived certain ancient court rituals to promote and further his role as the Emperor over Kings such as; Praptabhiseka, the Ceremonies of the Year 1000 for reformation the calerdar and Indrabhiseka. 2. Constructed and restorated the temples. 3. Constructed the royal palaces. 4. Built the Buddha images in Royal Arttire. 5. But the public works. From all of the contexts mentioned, we can analyse the purposes of construction, role and function of Wat Chaiwattanaram concerning King Prasatthong througout the design in the way of symbolic relating to the concept of the king. The design of Wat Chaiwattanaram was emphasized to the group of architectures inside and on the gallery which is the sybolic of cosmic. order cited in the Triphum. The plan has a main prang located on the certer as the most important one. It is the symbolic of Meru Mount; the center of the cosmic. As a result, the roles and functions of Wat Chaiwattanaram relating to the concept of King Prasatthong always concern the Meru Mount and also concern the other important elements which were mentioned. The roles and functions in these cases were shown to be the ways of symbolic as an ancestor temple and temple-mountain, as the transformation of the king to be Indra and to be the future-Buddha in the next existence.
