ความเชื่อทางศาสนาและลัทธิที่ปรากฎในวรรณกรรมคำสอนของชาวอีสาน

Abstract

วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาลักษณะความเชื่อทางศาสนาและลัทธิที่ปรากฏในวรรณกรรมคำสอนของชาวอีสาน จำนวน 9 เรื่อง ได้แก่ กาพย์ปู่สอนหลาน กาพย์พระมุนี กาพย์หลานสอนปู่ ท้าวคำสอน ธรรมดาสอนโลก พญาคำกอง (สอนไพร่) ย่าสอนหลาน สิริจันโทวาทยอดคำสอน และสีหราชสอนลูก เพื่อให้ทรายว่าชาวอีสานโบราณและปัจจุบันมีความเข้าใจในหลักคำสอนของศาสนาพุทธและมีความเชื่อเกี่ยวกับเรื่องผีสางเทวดาตลอดจนเทพเจ้าในศาสนาพราหมณ์-ฮินดูอย่างไร ผู้เขียนวิทยานิพนธ์ได้ศึกษารวบรวมข้อมูลจากวรรณกรรมทั้งเก้าเรื่องเพื่อแยกประเด็นแล้วตรวจสอบกับคำสอนในพระไตรปิฎก ส่วนความเชื่อเกี่ยวกับเทพเจ้าในศาสนาพราหมณ์-ฮินดู ได้เก็บข้อมูลจากความเชื่อที่ปรากฏในวรรณกรรมคำสอนที่เกี่ยวข้องและความเชื่อเกี่ยวกับเรื่องผีสางเทวดาได้ตรวจสอบจากการสัมภาษณ์คนชราชาวอีสานที่เคยมีประสบการณ์และมีความเชื่อเกี่ยวกับเรื่องดังกล่าว เพื่อนำมาเป็นข้อมูลประกอบการพิจารณาว่าความเชื่อดังกล่าวยังคงอยู่หรือสาบสูญไปแล้ว นอกจากนี้ยังได้ศึกษาถึงบทบาทของความเชื่อทางศาสนาและลัทธิที่ปรากฏในวรรณกรรมคำสอนด้วย จากการศึกษาสรุปได้ว่าชาวอีสานมีความเชื่อถือและศรัทธาในศาสนาพุทธค่อนข้างมาก ถึงแม้จะมีความเข้าใจในหลักคำสอนไม่ลึกซึ้งนัก แต่ก็มีความฝักใฝ่ในเรื่องการทำความดีละเว้นความชั่วและทำจิตใจให้สงบ ขณะเดียวกันชาวอีสานก็มีความเชื่อถือในเทพเจ้าของศาสนาพราหมณ์-ฮินดู เช่น พระอินทร์ พระพรหม และพระยม ว่าสามารถดลบันดาลให้พวกเขามีความสุ๘และประสบผลสำเร็จได้ ส่วนความเชื่อเรื่องผีสางเทวดานั้น ทั้งชาวอีสานโบราณและปัจจุบันต่างก็มีความเชื่อถือในเรื่องนี้อยู่มาก แม้ว่าชาวอีสานปัจจุบันจะมีความสนใจในทางศาสนาและลัทธิน้อยกว่าชาวอีสานโบราณ เนื่องจากได้อิทธิพลของวัฒนธรรมสมัยใหม่ที่แพร่เข้ามาแต่ลักษณะความเชื่อทางศาสนาและลัทธิที่ปรากฏในวรรณกรรมคำสอนทั้งเก้าเรื่องก็ยังคงมีบทบาทต่อชาวอีสานในฐานะที่เป็นวรรณกรรมคำสอนที่ให้ข้อเสนอแนะเกี่ยวกับการประพฤติปฏิบัติตนและการดำเนินชีวิตในสังคมให้มีความสุข

The purpose of this thesis is to study the characters of the religious and doctrinal beliefs of the northern Thai people in the didactic literary works, i.e. Kap Pu Sorn Lan, Kap Phra Muni, Kap Lan Sorn Pu, Thao Khamsorn, Thammada Sorn Lok, Phraya Khamkong (Sorn Phrai), Ya Sorn Lan, Siricanthowat Yord Khamsorn and Siharat Sorn Luk to assess how the ancient and modern northeastern Thai people have their understanding of Buddhism and how their beliefs in the animism and the Brahmanical gods are. In the process of study, the present researcher studied and collected data from the above-mentioned didactic literary words and classified them into separated topics. Then the Buddhist concepts in the literary words have compared with the Tripitaka, the Brahmanical concepts with the related documents and the animistic concepts with the data obtained from the interview of old northeastern Thai people who used to set direct experience with spirits. The influence of religious and doctrinal beliefs of northeastern Thai people in the didactic literary works are also brought to study. From the study, it can be concluded that the northeastern Thai people have their strong faith in Buddhism. In spite of the fact that they understand it superficially, but they pay attention to do good, avoid doing bad and pacify their minds. At the same time, they believe that the Brahmanical gods, such as Indra, Brahma and Yama can inspire them to be happy and successful if they worship them. Regarding the animistic beliefs, both ancient and modern northeastern Thai people have strong faith in them because some of them used to have direct experience with spirits. Although, the modern northeastern Thai people’s belief in religious and doctrine has declined more substantially than the ancient people due to their accepting new cultures. The religious and doctrinal beliefs in these didactic literary works still have influenced on them as they give the advice of good behavior and art of living in the society.
