การวิเคราะห์ภาพจิตรกรรมฝาผนังในพระที่นั่งพุทไธสวรรย์ พิพิธภัณฑสถานแห่งชาติพระนคร กรุงเทพมหานคร

Abstract

การวิจัยนี้มีจุดประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาลักษณะภาพบุคคลและที่มาเรื่องราวในพระที่นั่งพุทไธสวรรย์ พิพิธภัณฑสถานแห่งชาติพระนคร กรุงเทพมหานคร ซึ่งเขียนขึ้นในสมัยรัตนโกสินทร์ รัชกาลที่ 1 พระบาทสมเด็จพระพุทธยอดฟ้าจุฬาโลก จากการศึกษาภาพจิตรกรรมมีเนื้อหา 2 เรื่องใหญ่ คือ เทพชุมนุม และพุทธประวัติ ที่มาของเรื่องราวดังกล่าวมาจากวรรณกรรมทางพุทธศาสนา คือ พระไตรปิฎก, อรรถกถา และคัมภีร์โลกศาสตร์ เช่น ไตรภูมิกถา ไตรภูมิโลกวินิจฉัย เป็นต้น ภาพเทพชุมนุม ใช้ลักษณะพงศ์ของโขนมาเปรียบเทียบจากลักษณะมงกุฎ สี เครื่องแต่งกาย เครื่องประดับ เป็นต้น เพื่อบอกถึงลักษณะทางประติมานวิทยา การเขียนภาพเทพชุมนุมอาจแสดงความหมายถึงตอนเหล่าเทพยดามาถวายการสักการะต่อพระพุทธองค์ภายหลังการตรัสรู้ แบ่งเป็นเทพชั้นต่าง ๆ เริ่มจากชั้นล่างสุด คือ เทพชั้นจาตุมหาราชิกา ชั้นดาวดึงส์ ชั้นดุสิต ชั้นยามา จนถึงชั้นพรหมตามลำดับ มึความหมายพระพุทธเจ้าทรงอำนาจเหนือจักรวาล ภาพพุทธประวัติ มีทั้งหมด 28 ภาพ เริ่มเรื่องตั้งแต่ตอนอัญเชิญพระพุทธองค์ลงจากสวรรค์เพื่อมาจุติเป็นเจ้าชายสิทธัตถะจนถึงตอนพระพุทธองค์ปรินิพพาน นอกจากนี้ภาพจิตรกรรมฝาผนังในพระที่นั่งพุทไธสวรรย์ยังมีลักษณะเด่นหลายประการดังนี้ 1. เป็นฝีมือสกุลช่างวังหน้าสมัยรัตนโกสินทร์ตอนต้นที่ได้รับการยกย่องว่ามีความงามเป็นเลิศ 2. การจัดองค์ประกอบภาพเทพชุมนุมที่มีลักษณะพิเศษ คือ เขียนล้อมรอบผนังทั้ง 4 ด้าน แตกต่างจากที่อื่นที่นิยมเขียนเฉพาะผนังด้านข้างทั้งสองเท่านั้น 3. ภาพจิตรกรรมที่นี่ผ่านการซ่อมแซมมาหลายครั้ง แสดงให้เห็นถึงรูปแบบการเขียนภาพที่เปลี่ยนไปตามสมัยนิยม และสะท้อนถึงสังคมวัฒนธรรมในแต่ละสมัยด้วย 4. จุดมุ่งหมายของการเขียนภาพจิตรกรรมในพระที่นั่งพุทไธสวรรย์เพื่อถวายเป็นพุทธบูชาแด่พระพุทธสิหิงส์ซึ่งเป็นพระประธานในโบสถ์ และเพื่อประดับตกแต่งองค์ที่พระนั่งให้มีความงดงามสมบูรณ์

This thesis is aimed to study iconology (characteristics of human pictures) and the stories depicted on mural paintings in the Buddhaisawas Chapel of the National Museum, Bangkok. The paintings were created during the reign of King Rama I of the Rattanakosin Period. According to the study, the mural paintings have two major contents : “The Celestial Assembly” and “The Life of the Lord Buddha.” The stories were derived from Buddhist’s literatures of Phra Pathom Sombodhikatha, the Buddhist scriptures and Atthakatha. The paintings’ features are : The Celestial Assembly – used characteristics of “Khon” clan to describe iconology by comparing characteristics of crowns, colour schemes, costumes, and accessories appeared on the paintings. The murals were illustrated the scene of Devas assembled to pay respect to the Lord Buddha. The Devas were divided into classes. From the lowest to highest levels are Catummaharajika, Tavatims, Tusita, Yama and Brahaman respectively, wich means the Lord Buddha has the power overse the universe. The Life of the Lord Buddha – consisted of 28 pictures beginning from the scene of the Lord Buddha descending from heaven to be reborn on earth as Prince Siddhartha Gautama until he In addition, the mural paintings in the Buddhaisawan Chapel have several significances as follows ; 1. The murals were painted by royal artists of the Wang Na’s (the Frontal Palace) School of Art of the Rattanakosin Period which has been well recognized for its beautiful draughtsmanship. 2. The composition of the Celestial Assembly painting has a special characteristics, the murals were painted on all the four panels of the chapel’s wall instead of only two panels in other chapels. 3. Several renovations of the murals have reflected development of painting style influenced in each period including society and culture of that periods. 4. The objectives of drawing the murals in the Buddhaisawan Chapel is enshrine Phra Buddhasihing Buddha image which was housed in the chapel, and to decorate the chapel to completely.
