การศึกษาพฤติกรรมการใช้งานลานสาธารณะบริเวณวงเวียนใหญ่

Abstract

การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษารูปแบบการใช้งานพื้นที่สาธารณะบริเวณวงเวียนใหญ่ ที่เกิดจากองค์ประกอบทางกายภาพที่มีการออกแบบ โดยพื้นที่วงเวียนใหญ่ถือว่าเป็นลานสาธารณะที่มีความสำคัญต่อคนในชุมชนทั้งทางประวัติศาสตร์และการเป็นพื้นที่นันทนาการของชุมชน และอยู่ในพื้นที่ที่มีพื้นที่โล่งสาธารณะน้อยมาก โดยพบว่าในระยะ 800 เมตรโดยรอบไม่มีพื้นที่โล่งสาธารณะแห่งอื่นเลย วิธีวิจัยจะต้องทำการค้นคว้า แนวคิดและทฤษฎีที่มีความเกี่ยวข้องกับองค์ประกอบในการออกแบบลานสาธารณะ ปัจจัยในการเกิดพฤติกรรม และทำการกำหนดตัวแปรเพื่อเป็นหลักเกณฑ์ในการสำรวจพื้นที่ ให้ได้มาซึ่งข้อมูลเชิงลึกทางด้านพฤติกรรม และมีการสัมภาษณ์ผู้ใช้เพิ่มเติม เพื่อเป็นส่วนช่วยในการตอบคำถามของงานวิจัยและหาแนวทางในการปรับปรุงพื้นที่ให้มีความเหมาะสมกับการใช้งานที่เกิดขึ้นจริง ผลจากการศึกษาสามารถสรุปได้ว่า องค์ประกอบในการออกแบบส่งผลโดยตรงต่อพฤติกรรมในการใช้งาน ซึ่งประกอบด้วย ถนนและการเข้าถึง พื้นที่นั่ง แสงสว่างและร่มเงา ประติมากรรม การแบ่งพื้นที่ ช่วงวัน ช่วงเวลา และความปลอดภัย นอกจากนี้ยังพบว่าลักษณะทางกายภาพของลานในปัจจุบัน ยังไม่สามารถรองรับกิจกรรมประเภทการออกกำลังกาย และการเล่นกีฬาได้อย่างเหมาะสมเนื่องจากไม่มีการแบ่งสัดส่วนพื้นที่ประกอบกิจกรรมตามลักษณะและปริมานกิจกรรมที่เกิดขึ้นจริง ข้อเสนอแนะของงานวิจัยที่ได้จากการวิเคราะห์กายภาพ พฤติกรรม และการสัมภาษณ์ สรุปได้ว่าควรมีการเพิ่มทางเข้าถึง มีการแบ่งพื้นที่การใช้งานกิจกรรมต่าง ๆ อย่างชัดเจนเพื่อลดการซ้อนทับของพื้นที่กิจกรรม มีการเพิ่มต้นไม้ใหญ่ภายในบริเวณลานเพื่อสร้างร่มเงาให้กับลานและเป็นฉากหลังของพระบรมราชานุสาวรีย์ เปิดโล่งเฉพาะมุมมองจากถนนและทางเท้า รวมถึงควรมีการเพิ่มการสาธาณูประโภค เช่น ห้องน้ำเพื่ออำนวยความสะดวกแก่ผู้ใช้งาน

The objective of the research is to study the type of use of public area around Wongwian Yai which is caused by design physical elements. Wongwian Yai area is well considered an important plaza for the surrounding community given its historical significance, space available for community recreation, and the fact that there is no public open space nearby within an 800 meter radius further signifies its importance. Research methodology involves development of ideas and theory, which relates to the plaza design elements and behavior-production factor as well as specification of variables to set standards for area surveys in gathering detailed behavioral data, and conducting user interviews to answer the researches question and finding suitable ways to improve the area in conjunction with the community. A summary of findings from this study show that the design elements, of which, are street and accessibility, sitting space, light and shade, sculpture, area division, timing, and security, all have a direct affect the area usage behavior. Moreover, the plaza's physical elements, at present, cannot adequately support any type of fitness or sporting activities because the plaza area is not allocated to accommodate the type or level of such activities that actually take place. A proposal from this research based on analysis in physical, behavior and user interviews can be concluded that the usage area should be clearly divided for each type of activity to reduce any overlapping area, more access by the public should be allowed a planting more large trees to generate shading in the plaza and to serve as background for the Royal Statue, uncovering of selected views particularly from the road and the pedestal, and making available public utilities such as washrooms to facilitate the users.
